What We built

The Hero system was designed to leverage the rich roster of beloved characters from the world of Westeros, giving players a deeper personal connection to the game beyond base building and combat. By introducing a gacha-driven card system, the team created a compelling new progression layer that incentivized daily engagement across all player types, from free-to-play users earning Seals through gameplay to invested players pursuing rare and Legendary-tier Heroes.

What I Worked On

On the Heroes feature, I served as the bridge between the UX design team and the live operations graphic design team, establishing a visual style and production pipeline that allowed the characters to take center stage while ensuring the system's deep gameplay remained approachable for all players. I created the high-fidelity mockups and designed the specifications for Hero Cards at three levels of detail (icon, stat view, and feature view), balancing visual impact with clarity at every tier.

Why it was Awesome

The Heroes system became one of the most impactful additions in Game of Thrones: Conquest's live service history. Grounding the feature in recognizable IP characters gave players immediate emotional investment, while the gacha acquisition model drove consistent daily engagement across all player types. The depth of the system created long-term goals that extended well beyond launch. Heroes has continued to expand with new characters and content, remaining a cornerstone of the game's progression ecosystem.
